Bucking Burritos X Hoogah - Bingo Night For Dementia Friendly Swansea
On Monday the 5th of August we held a fundraiser for our Charity of The Month, Dementia Friendly Swansea, we teamed up with Bucking Burritos for a night of delicious vegan burritos and nachos, bingo, and specialty margaritas to get us into the Mexican mood for the evening.
Smiles all around as the bingo gets in full swing.
Dementia Friendly Swansea is a voluntary group that focuses on improving inclusion and quality of life for people with dementia in Swansea and surrounding areas.
The Dementia Hwb located in The Quadrant, Swansea, is a unique pop-up information centre led by Dementia Friendly Swansea. Opened in January 2022, The Dementia Hwb in Swansea is a unique pop-up information centre located at the entrance through the bus station of The Quadrant. Initially opening for a five week trial, the service is being supported by Dementia Friendly Swansea together with Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, Age Cymru West Glamorgan and other local organisations. The Hwb is currently funded by a Swansea Council Winter of Wellbeing 50+ grant.
We held two rounds of bingo with Rachel killing it on the microphone, calling out the numbers - although there was some minor bingo card drama the evening was filled with lots of laughs, great banter, delicious food from Bucking Burritos and specialty cocktails curated by Mickey and served up by our Bea behind the bar!
Between games, food was served and there was muffled silence as everyone tucked into their burritos and loaded nachos!
We also called our raffle between games, which was loaded up with loads of prizes donated from local businesses, independent artists and makers - which we are super grateful for! The raffle raised over £400 in ticket sales, so a big massive thank you to everyone who donated prizes and to those who bought tickets to support Dementia Friendly Swansea!
Another huge thank you to everyone involved in our fundraising evening and a massive well done to our Mickella for organising the whole event! From the food offerings, cocktail menu and staffing for the evening - we’re super proud of how much you raised for your chosen charity and look forward to the next one!
Oh, and well done to Martha on winning our final game and whacking the Piñata like a real winner!!
